Sandy-beach events in June:
Mole crabs and sand dollars reach peak abundance and mate.
Shore birds are rare because most have migrated northward to nest in the Arctic and sub-Artic. A few non-breeders may stay locally
The only small beach birds that can be seen at this time of year are snowy plovers, which nest on a few Central-Coast beaches.
Sole and sanddabs move closer to shore, after spawning in deep water during the winter and spring.
